Occupational therapy is the link to our clients in the workplace. Occupational Therapy is a diverse profession focused on promoting health and well being through occupation. Therapists within this profession perform a variety of tasks aimed at rehabilitating clients and helping organizations manage their injury programmes.
Within the TBI Health network, our Occupational Therapists work collaboratively with businesses/insurance companies and their employees/clients. Our registered Occupational Therapists can assist in returning an injured worker back into the workplace and can provide prevention strategies to minimize the risk of recurrent injuries at work. Our OT’s are specially trained and qualified to provide work site and work station assessments, ergonomic advice, functional capacity evaluations and progressive return to work plans for injured staff.
Occupational Therapists assist in bridging the gap between the injured client and the workforce. This is completed through functional assessments, client-specific occupational rehabilitation programs, education, analysis of job demands and ergonomic assessments.
Therapists also work with employers to reduce the severity and frequency of injuries within the workplace. This is completed through customised training programmes and prevention services.
Home Visits
Home Visits are conducted to determine a client’s level of independence and safety in activities of daily living (washing, dressing, feeding and toileting). These visits may also involve the teaching of new techniques or the implementation of assistive devices to increase safety and/or independence.
