We have a number of assessment options available to assist in diagnosing your injury and helping to determine the most effective strategy to deal with the problem. Our Assessment services include;
Physiotherapist Assessment
Your initial injury assessment will be with a physiotherapist who specialises in spinal rehabilitation. Your physiotherapist will be able to discuss in detail the cause of the injury and initiate a plan to enhance your recovery.
If your injury is due to an accident we are able to initiate your ACC claim and commence treatment immediately. No referral is required but we welcome GP or specialist referrals if available. Your physiotherapist is able to liaise directly with your GP on your progress and can organize x-rays or an ultrasound scan if required.
Exercise Therapy Assessment
Exercise Therapy is an essential component of the rehabilitation plan for our clients who require a more comprehensive rehabilitation programme and for those that need to maintain their fitness, strength and conditioning. An exercise therapy assessment will help you to determine your fitness, functional and strength goals and will gather information on your current fitness level.
Orthopaedic Specialist Assessment
We are fortunate to have a team of orthopaedic specialists that consult at our TBI Health clinics. In a number of situations, an assessment of your injury by an Orthopaedic specialist may assist in your recovery. Our TBI Health physiotherapist will arrange an appointment for you if required. Alternatively, if your GP has provided a referral, you may wish to arrange an appointment directly.
Occupational Therapist Assessment
Our Occupational Therapists can provide an extensive assessment of your injury to determine the impact of your injury on your ability to work and perform routine activities within your day. The Occupational Therapist may make recommendations on how to alter your work site or they may suggest ergonomic aids to assist at home.
Muscle Balance Assessment
Muscle Balance Assessment can reveal underlying biomechanical problems that may lead to the development of a back injury or impairment in performance. All of our Physiotherapists and Exercise Therapists have been trained to perform muscle balance assessments. Following each assessment, we can provide you with a comprehensive summary of your biomechanical profile and give you a summary of exercises to assist in correcting the problem.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
TBI Health can provide a more comprehensive assessment service for clients with a complex injury. One of the hardest decisions to make about an injury is the effect that it will have on a client’s ability to work and function. Determining appropriate restrictions or timeframes for returning to work can be difficult and time consuming. We are able to offer assessment services that give objective detailed information on an individual client’s current abilities to assist in determining the progressions required in return to work planning.
A Task Specific FCE provides a summary of an individual’s capacity to perform a series of specific tasks at work. This form of assessment is ideal to determine if an injured employee can return to a series of tasks at work. A Full Functional Capacity Assessment is ideal for clients who are no longer employed due to their injury and have no particular job to return to following rehabilitation.
