TBI Health offers a wide variety of assessments to assist in the development of a rehabilitation plan. As a team we are continually developing the scope of our assessments to ensure we can provide the most accurate opinion on an individual claimants injury and the most appropriate recommendations to assist in resolving the problem. We currently provide the following assessment services;
Abilities Assessment
The Abilities Assessment is designed to assess employees that have been off work for a period of 6 weeks and requires a more comprehensive assessment and treatment programme. The assessment is 2 hours in duration and is completed by a Registered Physiotherapist and an Exercise Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist. The Abilities Assessment will provide recommendations on the most appropriate intervention strategy for an individual injury and is an essential component of an ABP.
The Assessment provides the following features:
- Establishes presence of any physical impairment
- Establishes the existence of a disability by comparing employee's current functional abilities with the essential job demands
- Identifies current physical abilities for appropriate modified work
- Identifies physical, vocational and behavioural barriers to recovery
- Provides a prediction of RTW outcome
- Provides recommendations for rehabilitation
Functional Capacity Evaluation
One of the hardest decisions to make about an injury is the effect that it will have on a client’s ability to work and function. Determining appropriate restrictions or timeframes for returning to work can be difficult and time consuming. We are able to offer assessment services that give objective detailed information on an individual client’s current abilities to assist in determining the progressions required in return to work planning.
A Task Specific FCE provides a summary of an individual’s capacity to perform a series of specific tasks at work. This form of assessment is ideal to determine if an injured employee can return to a series of tasks at work.
A Full Functional Capacity Assessment is ideal for clients who are no longer employed due to their injury and have no particular job to return to following rehabilitation. The associated report gives details on the physical capacity of the individual and provides guidelines on physical restrictions when considering vocational options. This form of assessment can also be used in conjunction with a rehabilitation programme to show objective measurable changes over the time frame of the programme.
Comprehensive Pain Assessment
The Comprehensive Pain Assessment is a multidisciplinary assessment provided by our Othopaedic sureons, Physiotherapists and psychologists who specialise in the management of ongoing pain (chronic pain) issues. The goal of the assessment is to gain accurate information on the medical, functional and psychosocial status of the claimant at a particular point in time.
Social Rehabilitation Assessment
The social rehabilitation assessment provides sufficient information to enable a case manager to make an informed decision on the social and functional limitations of an individual recovering from a covered injury.
The assessment will include but not be limited to the following details of a clients capacity;
Communication
- Domestic Activities
- Education
- Financial management
- Health care
- Hygiene care
- Mobility
- Motivation
- Safety management
- Sexuality
- Cognitive tasks of daily living
- Use of transport
- Pre injury level of independence
- Post injury level of independence
- Limitations as a result of the injury
- Recommendations of social rehabilitation options
- Predicted outcome following the recommended intervention
