Training for Independence contracts held by TBI Health 

Te Ata Tu: moderate injury-related needs

  • For adult kiritaki/clients over 16 years with injuries such as fractures, sprains and strains
  1. Training for Independence (standard)

Rehabilitation programmes completed in the community, which are designed to improve your clients’ level of independent function, their confidence and participation in everyday activities and to reduce the risk of them sustaining further injuries.

The type and number of rehabilitation hours provided is tailored to each individual’s injury-related needs and goals.

Up to 6 months of interdisciplinary rehabilitation

  1. Advisory Service Short Term

Up to 6 hours of rehabilitation input over a maximum of 8 weeks. Useful for clients who only need a short duration of rehabilitation input from one or more rehabilitation professionals.

  1.  Advisory Service Long Term

Up to 14 hours of input over up to 12 months. Useful for clients who need intermittent oversight, monitoring or supervision to maintain confidence and gains made in a previous rehabilitation programme.

Te Ata Po: significant injury-related needs

  • For adult kiritaki/clients over 16 years with injuries such as moderate to severe traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, brachial plexus injury, severe burns, multiple limb amputations, or vision loss due to injury
  1. Training for Independence (standard)

Rehabilitation programmes completed in the community, which are designed to improve your clients’ level of independent function, their confidence and participation in everyday activities and to reduce the risk of them sustaining further injuries.

The type and number of rehabilitation hours provided is tailored to each individual’s injury-related needs and goals.
