We are excited to introduce our new Escalated SpineCare Pathway for ACC clients who require customised support to recover from back or neck injuries.
This new initiative provides access to an integrated team of health professionals to ensure you get the help you need when you need it.

TBI Health are proud to a finalist in the New Zealand Primary Healthcare Awards | He Tohu Mauri Ora 2021 for our SpineCare Pathway.
We take care of all aspects of your rehabilitation needs including:
- Orthopaedic Spine Specialists
- Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
- Pain management
- Support to return to work
- Surgery (if required)
As part of the service, you will have access to a ‘Navigator’ to help guide you through the rehabilitation process.
Triage assessment
Before starting, you will have an initial assessment with one of our trained SpineCare physiotherapists. Their job is assess your injury, diagnose your current problem and work with you to determine the level of care you require.
The treatment plan
Following the triage assessment, we will work together to determine which health professionals are best suited to help with your recovery. We will also keep your GP in the loop so everyone is on the same page.
Return to work
Work is an important part of everyone’s life. Research shows that the sooner you are back to work safely after an injury, the better your overall recovery is. We may not be able to get you back to work right away, but we can usually find strategies to get you back to work in a safe way. We also work with your employer to make the transition back to work easier to manage.
Pain Management
When people are injured pain isn’t the only problem, it’s what the pain stops you from doing that has the biggest effect. Our clinical team will work with you to better understand your pain so you have the confidence to get back to doing the things you love doing.

We can provide additional support to ensure our service is culturally appropriate to meet your individual physical, spiritual, social and emotional needs.
Specialist support
If surgery is the best option for you, we can support you through the entire process. From assessment, though surgery and you post-operative care to ensure you get the best possible outcome.

As an ACC registered provider, we can lodge your injury claim and provide immediate treatment. We also welcome all GP and specialist referrals.
Access for Health Providers
As part of the Escalated Care Pathway, we are testing a unique treatment stream called the Monitored Care pathway. The pathway will enable external health providers to refer their clients to the service and become part of the overall multi-disciplinary team.
We are currently testing this approach with a number of local health provider groups and will hopefully be able to increase the reach of this component of the service over the term of the contract.
